Qualcomm Facing Snapdragon S4 Chip Shortage Due To High Demand

The chip maker Qualcomm which recently announced its Q2 2012 results with $4.94 billion in revenues says that its supply of 28nm Snapdragon S4 chips isn’t going to be able to keep up with demand until the end of the year. The BBC reports that company during its earning call said that it currently “cannot secure enough supply to meet the increasing demand” for the chips, which are widely required in smartphones.

Qualcomm said in order to meet demand it was “looking at alternative chipsets, in particular our Fusion 2 lineup, which can be substituted in some cases.” The company is also planning to outsource some production to other manufacturers. Although company do believes that it might expect to see some alternative non-Qualcomm chipsets beings used.
