According to Chipworks, Apple TV has a single-core processor – the new APL2498 version of the Apple A5 chip is actually a dual-core design and is built on a smaller 32nm process that will help saving the battery life for longer. The interesting to note here is that Apple TV (APL2498 version) is also shipping in the new $399 iPad 2 (confused) – do not be, as both Chipworks and AnadTech folks discovered the same.
