Microsoft Announces 10.6-inch Windows 8 Surface Tablet: 9.3mm Thick, USB 2 Port, Weighs 1.5 lbs (Updated: Video)

With days of rumors surfacing from one web place to another, Microsoft just now at its mystery event has unveiled Surface Tablet. The initial Surface is a tablet which is 9.3mm thick, features a full-size USB 2 port, beveled edges canted at 22 degrees and weighs 1.5 lbs. The casing is made of magnesium and Microsoft calls Surface, a ‘full PC’.

“We’ve ushered in a new era of cloud computing and embraced mobility. We are attempting to transform entertainment, and Windows is the heart and soul of Microsoft,” said CEO Steve Ballmer at the event. He went on to call Windows the ‘most flexible, general-purpose software ever created’.
