London mayor, Boris Johnson has transferred the public Twitter account @mayoroflondon into his own name in order to support his re-election campaign on the mayoral election campaign first day, which results him over grabbing around 253,000 followers from the account, reports BBC. Johnson even replaced the account’s web link to the official city hall city with his own campaign site. Over on the matter, the UK’s Labour party has made an official complaint to the Greater London Authority (GLA). According to the Electoral Commission, BBC reports that there are no specific rules that related to the re-branding of Twitter accounts, but if any money spent on the account from the time Johnson did the changes will go from his own pocket.
