HP Now Laying Off Additional 2,000 Jobs, Bringing Total To 29,000

HP back in May while announcing its Q2 results, confirmed that it will be laying down around 27,000 jobs, but with report from Reuters today stated that company increase the total number of job cuts count by 2,000 over the next two years, bringing the total layoff to 29,000 employees.

The company had decided to cut jobs through a combination of involuntary cuts and early retirement offers, taking charges of about $3.3 billion by HP’s 2014 fiscal year end for the workforce reduction. The company also expects to take another $400 million in charges relating to data centers and real estate consolidation. HP will likely have cut 11,500 jobs by end of fiscal 2012.
