Google Launches ‘Compute Engine’ Its Official Business Cloud Offering

In all the big announcements going on today at Google’s I/O 2012 event, the company launches its official business cloud offering “Compute Engine.” The company described Compute Engine as providing Linux virtual machines on ‘Google Scale.’ The product is 50% cheaper than competing products, Google claims. Available currently in limited preview. The company also claimed that it has spent last 10 years working on lowering the price of computing. The company noted that for apps that don’t require much data I/O, many more cores can be used.
