Fujitsu, Docomo, NEC Together Forms Smartphone Chipmaker Company

Fujitsu, Docomo, NEC, and Fujitsu Semiconductor today announced an agreement stating to form a joint venture focusing on the development and sales of semiconductor products, an attempt to cut their reliance on foreign-made mobile chips. The new joint venture named as Access Network Technology Limited, established by Fujitsu, along with the capital contributions of Docomo, NEC, and Fujitsu Semiconductor scheduled to begin operations in August.

Access Network Technology Limited having ownership share by each company are as follows: Fujitsu 52.8%, Docomo 19.9%, NEC 17.8% and Fujitsu Semiconductor 9.5%. The total capital the company having as of now is 100 million yen with Minoru Sakata as President. The company currently employs approximately 85 employees.
