Adding more glitter for this holiday season, Flurry Analytics shared the latest data stating that this year Christmas Day 2012 saw a record of 17.4 million Android and iOS device activations, a total of 2.5 times more than that of 2011. With over 260,000 apps using Flurry Analytics, Flurry detects that more than 90% of all new iOS and Android devices activated every day.

The daily activations averaged around 4 million per day, with variance of a few hundred thousand in either direction per day while on the Christmas day; activation soared to over 17.4 million, a 332% increase over the December baseline. Comparing the numbers with the Christmas Day last year, the numbers reached 6.8 million devices activations, surpassed its own baseline by more than 300%.
