Sustainable Business

Going Sustained, we all been listening this from quite long time, but still not able to make or even bring it to a complete sense. What are the possible reasons fortifying it? Why, When and What? Still stands in front of us to make this happen in REAL. But, still what awaits us – the answer is “We.” Now, why we are not allowing ourselves to take the green path or even if someone try to go green still we are not able to make that happen.

Wikipedia definition of Sustainability says, “It is the capacity to endure. It is the long-term maintenance of responsibility, which has environmental, economic, and social dimensions, and encompasses the concept of stewardship, the responsible management of resource use.”

Great quote, “People say they care about green but they really care about opting for sustainability.”

There were great stories in the past, which is still with making it place in present so as to make our future strong. In order to attain this, we have to believe, or even if you still not, have to start believing, that the higher values are the key ingredients to story success. Possibly, now you get confused here that of which story I am talking about, well, I am talking about only “you,” your part of story.

Now, taking first step towards that success story, considering a point here, thinking you as an entrepreneur, what’s your initial story first, the question comes your mind is to find the right niche, and not to forget, to combining it with sustainability. Niche – a small-cum-sweet five letter word that describe what’s you’re doing either as an organizational or as at an individual level.

Right Niche

Okay, well let’s say you are thinking of starting something, or even planning to start something, the first “big” question comes to your mind is that what you are really starting with? There are thousands of fields out there – I know you can’t go and select all the fields, even suppose, you select, say, Computers is the field in which you want to start your working life (selecting it as niche), but still there are again hundreds of fields comes under computers – designing, programming, hosting, and a lot more etc. Interesting, or confused that you have to decide here. But, I suggest better opt for interesting.

We are living in the world where digital tools are spawning a new peer-to-peer oral tradition. You can start thinking by first looking out the key values from the past and then seeing where at present those key values are opting for at that particular niche, and at end without losing sigh check what the prediction does hold for you. Identifying these values for your selected niche or cause can be extremely rewarding, and less difficult than it sounds. Always, align across all four categories (founding story, offering, leadership, and audiences) are ideal choices and you will come with your right niche.

So far we came across and learnt two things: Sustainability and niche – but still we are left something, what would happen if we build the right niche for your sustainable business in the sharing economy.

Another, new word taking an entry here, “Sharing Economy”  – now what’s this? (The first question)

Sharing Economy

In order to describe a fascinating new economic and social phenomenon, the terms “sharing economy” as well as “collaborative consumption” are both on use. The terms as suggested with its name means the markets for the sharing of products and services between individuals. Talking about some examples here Airbnb, CouchSurfing, ZipCar etc are the few to name here. Sharing Economy is all about values, understanding the difference between renting v/s borrowing, targeting one neighbourhood at a time, the most important – trust factor and spreading resources.

Do remember, whatever the outcome, you can be sure of one thing that the stakes have been raised, meant for trust. And, that is likely to be a good thing for us all of us.
