Facebook Hires Its First Chief Marketing Officer Gary Briggs

The social giant has appointed its first Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Gary Briggs, reports Ad Age. Briggs had switched from his role as VP of consumer marketing at Google to CMO at Motorola and will replace Facebook’s VP of product marketing Eric Antonow.

Briggs worked with Motorola as CMO until January 2013. The publication added that Briggs will hold wider responsibilities as compared to Antonow and will lead product marketing, platform marketing and events, communication design, brand marketing and content strategy, product marketing, platform marketing and events, communication design, brand marketing and content strategy.

Facebook provided a statement from Mr. Briggs on his new role to Ad Age “Facebook isn’t just a company. For more than a billion people, it’s their connection to the friends and things they care about most. Telling the story of such an important and still very young brand is an incredible opportunity, and I cannot wait to get started.”
