China’s Youku Tudou, Qualcomm Collaborates Over H.265 Technology To Boost Video Quality On Mobile Platforms

China’s Youku Tudou and Qualcomm today announced a collaboration to boost quality of videos on mobile platforms. The collaboration meant for H.265 technology, which will allow viewers mobile access to high quality video content on Youku when using most Qualcomm Snapdragon processor powered devices.

Referred the H.265 technology as the HEVC codec, will enable videos to be transmitted using less data bandwidth, the company said in a statement. The technology allows a compression efficiency of up to 40 percent compared with the current video compression technology H.264.

“Qualcomm Technologies has built a campaign that resonates with smartphone consumers, and they recognized Youku Tudou’s appeal as a destination for smart, high-quality, multi-screen advertising, especially among IT and telecom brands,” said Yawei Dong, Chief Marketing Officer of Youku Tudou.
