China’s Xiaomi Joins Hands With Sina Weibo, Selling Smartphone Directly Through Microblogging Service

The Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi has announced a new partnership with Sina Weibo, China’s top microblogging platform in lieu of testing a new strategy of selling its handsets directly on Weibo, Sina Tech reports. The companies are starting this week with taking the reservations from today and tomorrow and the sales will start at noon on Friday.

Those who are interested in buying have to go to Weibo event page which gives information on how to buy the devices. In the initial phase, around 50,000 Xiaomi’s new Mi2 handsets are available only to Weibo users.
