Sina Weibo

With Sina yesterday reported its fourth quarter results with net revenues of $139.1 million and 3 cents of EPS, the company CEO Charles Chao during a quarter earnings call shared that the service had 46.2 million daily active users as of last December, up 82% year-on-year while Weibo had only recently passed the 400 million mark in the third quarter of 2012. This means that Sina Weibo grew 73% in 2012, passing 500 million registered accounts.

“Despite a slowdown in growth rate, we believe that Weibo has reached a critical mass, and will continue to grow in user base and user activities given the network size, especially with the more adoption of mobile Internet and the formation of ecosystem surrounding Weibo platform,” Chao said.
