China’s second-largest wireless operator China Unicom has revealed its July numbers: the telecommunication company added 3.087 million users to its new 3G subscriber base, totalling now over 60 million, amounted to 60.617 million, although Unicom’s 3G subscribers totaled 51.8 million at the end of April, while company reports 2G subscribers to 162 million.
The company earlier reported that it is expecting a large piece of revenue from its third-generation network than from 2G subscribers for the first time this year. “We are not as focused on the number of new users, we want to make sure we are adding good quality customers,” Lu said.
