Mitel Network, Canadian communication and collaboration software maker filed suit against the world’s largest social networking giant, Facebook alleging that it has infringed two of its patents: U.S. patent number 5940834 – “Automatic web page generator” and U.S. patent number 7292685 – “Pro-active features for telephony”.

The Canadian company says it has sent letters to Facebook notifying them of the potential patent infringement back in July 2011 and then again in September 2011, but it has never received any response. The company is asking for damages that the social giant result into in it, “adequate to compensate for that infringement in an amount that will be ascertained at trial, but in no event less than a reasonable royalty”.
