It’s a break off time, but not for you or me, but it’s between Brazilian newspapers association and Google news. The story starts back in 2010 when the country’s largest association of newspapers, the Associação Nacional de Jornais (ANJ) agreed on allowing to post the title and first line of articles, in a thinking that it will help them gain traffic. But, now almost after two year time there is hardly much difference. ANJ president Carlos Fernando Lindenberg Neto told the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas (via The Verge), “Staying in Google News was not helping us grow our digital audiences.” Lindenberg Neto further says that the company had not discuss any sort of compensation as well as for the content, although there will not be much impact of the decision on the company as it hold smaller market presence in the country.
