Arris Receives DoJ Approval Over Its $2.35 Billion Motorola Set-Top Box Business Acquisition

Back in December, 2012, Google sold its Motorola set-top box division to Arris for $2.35 billion in a mix deal of both cash and stock, today after five months of the deal, the acquisition received its final regulatory approval. Arris today announced that the US Department of Justice has cleared the proposed Motorola Home business, Google’s subsidiary acquisition.

“We share a similar vision and strategy with Arris for the industry’s migration to IP. The combination of our solutions, expert technologists and roadmaps promises to transform how service providers deliver the smart, simple connected home to consumers throughout the world,” said Marwan Fawaz, executive vice president of Motorola Mobility, at the time of the announcement in December.
