FORTUNE magazine has published its FORTUNE Global 500 list. The FORTUNE Global 500 used to be a scorecard by which Western companies measured their dominance. The list indicated that the Apple moved up 56 spots and perhaps more importantly ranked #7 in terms of profit in this year’s installment. The accompanying map shows the headquarters of the Fortune 500 listed companies, which layered over data representing each country’s gains in gross national income from 2000 to 2010 in order to suggest the Global 500 isn’t just a measure of corporate muscle but also an indicator of prosperity.
