Apple today announced an updated version of its 21.5-inch low-end dual core iMac for educational institutions with an offering price of $1,099. The iMac (model number: ME699LL/A) features just 4GB of RAM and a 500GB of hard drive, 3.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i3, 1920 X 1080 resolution and Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Although this new updated version replaced an earlier $999 version which was released back in August 2011, the company clearly detailed out that the iMac is only made available for purchase by educational institutions, means an individual not able to purchase the iMac via Apple’s educational discount program.
