Apple And Two Publishers Hold Out Against Settlement Over E-Book Pricing

With the last month news that Apple along with five other publishers going to face anti-trust charges from US Department of Justice over the raise in the price of electronic books. Over on which earlier Reuters reports that the The Justice Department could reach a settlement in the next few weeks with Apple and some of the major publishers suspected of colluding to push up electronic book prices.

Today the news rounding up that Apple and publishers Pearson and Macmillan hold out against settlement on terms sought by US and European antitrust authorities investigating possible e-book price fixing. The Journal, citing sources, reported that CBS Corp’s Simon & Schuster Inc, HarperCollins Publishers Inc and Lagardere SCA’s Hachette Book Group are inclined to settle. But Apple, Pearson and Macmillan, a unit of Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH, are unwilling to, according to the report.
