Amazon Reportedly Acquiring Mapping Company UpNext

Slow and steady wins the race and doing things silently sometimes also lets you wins the race. GigaOm reports that Amazon reportedly acquiring 3D mapping company UpNext. UpNext was founded back in 2007 by Raj Advani, Vik Advani, Robin Har and Danny Moon. This New York-based company offers interactive, detailed three-dimensional maps of cities and venues. UpNext currently offers 3D map apps for both Android and iOS. Until now Amazon don’t have its own mapping service and to access maps on The Kindle Fire, users must download third-party Android apps or access online mapping services through the browser but with the acquisition, Amazon will get advantage in offering mapping capabilities.
