2014 is just around the corner and motor-heads are already looking forward to the new selection of sports cars that are set to be released next year.
There is something incredibly alluring about a sports car. The sleek, smooth lines, the low, close to the road position and of course the powerful engine. These things make sports cars highly desirable, by men and women of all ages.
But what vivacious vehicles can we look forward to seeing in 2014? Here is a selection of some of the best that have already got pulses racing and engines revving:
1. Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
The Chevrolet Corvette has been a favourite sports car for many years, since the first generation model in 1953. The new version is truly beautiful, with seductive curves and clean lines on a body that is available as a coupe or convertible. A beefy 6.2 litre V8 engine lies below this attractive outer shell, providing more than enough power for some great fun driving.
2. Mercedes-Benz S-Class
The name Mercedes immediately says quality and performance, and the sportier Mercs offer unbelievable looks too. The forthcoming Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a great example of these looks. This is a substantial car, but one that remains elegant and stylish, in a masculine way. This is a real luxury sports motor, with a 5.5 litre twin-turbo engine, so it’s certainly no slouch on the road.
3. Jaguar F-Type
The Jaguar F-Type follows the classic E-Type, both alphabetically as well as in terms of design. This is a modern evolution of the infamous E-Type, with more body to it and more aerodynamic styling. Of course Jaguar mechanics have come on incredibly since the F-Type’s predecessor, and this new model contains a 3 litre supercharged V6 engine. It’s worth knowing that Jaguar spare car parts are widely available too, for any repairs that become necessary.
4. Aston Martin DB9
The Aston Martin DB9 is the car to own if you are a stylish modern man or woman. With this car you can live out your very own James Bond fantasy, while enjoying all the perks that come with being behind the wheel of a masterpiece of design and engineering. The 2014 model has a 5.9 litre V12 engine and 470 horsepower. No mounted machine guns included though.
5. Audi R8
The Audi R8 is another car that has been around for a couple of years (as the DB9 has), but which also has a brand new model being launched in 2014. This is making car fans very excited, and with good reason too. The R8 is a modern classic, with fantastic European engineering, sleek, sexy looks and a 4.2 litre V8 engine, with variable valve timing.
6. Nissan GT-R
The 2014 Nissan GT-R model is a 2 door, 4 seater sports car with a 3.8 litre V6 engine. This Japanese manufacturer has been making excellent, relatively inexpensive sports cars for a number of years now, and Japanese engineering is widely accepted to be excellent, meaning these cars should last for years without requiring major repairs.
7. Porsche 918
With a 4.6 litre V8 engine and drop dead gorgeous looks, the Porsche 918 just had to be on this list. This is a smooth, shapely sports car with wonderful curves and enough power to blow your hair back when you cruise through town or the countryside with the roof off.
